Arcology

"This is a view seen through the structure at the entrance to Arcosanti, an experimental town north of Phoenix, Arizona, founded by the architect Paolo Soleri in 1970 and based on his principles of arcology, which is the interface of architecture and ecology". Taken by Cynthia

This is great. Reminds me of something I was taught to do in 6th grade with a ruler and colored pens - how straight lines can make an arch. That arcology sounds really interesting.

Wow..........amazing color, photography, concept. It's magical. I'm inspired to learn more about Arcosanti. Thanks for submitting this!

The sculpture was recently repainted: as you can see from the photo it was beginning to look a bit shabby. Not good, since it is the first thing visitors see driving out to the site.

see: http://www.arcosanti.org/today/2008/05/30.html

Anyone visiting Arizona should check it out. There are conducted tours of the site every day at 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm.

My wife and I were residents there for about a year; feel free to contact us if you would like to know more.

what a great photograph. nice work capturing the colors and shades of the structure and it is quite an interesting angle taken as well.
