Ghost Town of Bodie

"Bodie, CA is a Ghost town in the Wild West. Like many other deserted towns, it came up as a Gold mining town in the nineteenth century. As the mines closed down, the population declined. US census of 1912 put the population as 120. Today, no one lives there except the park rangers.

"Winters are off-season for Bodie because the access roads are usually closed because of snow. But we were able to get there this week because snow hasn't been much. And ironically, in a town that no one lives, I managed to get a parking ticket because, apparently, I parked in the wrong empty space...
The day we visited Bodie, it was competely deserted. There was no other visitor...except the ghost that left the parking ticket." Taken by abhishekit

Flowers at Circus Maxentius

"What a beautiful spot this is. Go down the Appian Way on the bus to visit the various catacombs, then go further on and on the left you will find the Circus Maxentius a little way off the road to the left. Once a vast chariot racing centre with buildings and stables, tiered seats and no doubt concession stands and souvenir sellers, now a quiet set of ruins in a field. Great place for a picnic! The children in our group raced around the course - far longer than they realised, perhaps nearly a kilometre around". Taken by Alison Ryde

Marks on the wall...

"...they might not be permanent. but they were beautiful. and they were there, for some time. they might not be there after 2 or 3 hours. but when i passed they were there. just like human emotions. they might exist at one point of time. but not other moments after or before. we're like walls. some people come and paint or carve on us. and it's up to us if we decide to remove these markings on the wall or repaint it again with different color, or keep those markings on our hearts and people will see them every time they look at us. :)
