Snowdon

One of my favorite locations in the UK "North Wales" and only 80 Miles from my home Village. Snowdonia is the highest mountain in Wales 3,560 ft (1,085 m) and the second highest in the UK. On this day I was accompanied by my family, our goal for the day was to head up to the top via train but unfortunately the train service was fully booked for the next 4 days, maybe next time. Instead we decided to walk part of the Miners Track up untill lake Llyn Llydaw our final destination - beyond this point carrying a 3 year can be a bit of a challenge.

From the lower end of Llyn Llydaw I was able to capture some amazing shot's of both the lake and the peak of Snowdon. For this particular shot I waited for the sun to disappear and partly reappear from behind a cloud just enough to remove direct sun light from snowdon peak "see note" and light up the smaller mountain to the right of the frame. Follow the Path with Heart

"In early 2007, we joined a party undertaking a guided walk through the Greenstone Valley and Routeburn Track in Fiordland, South Island, New Zealand. On our “day off” we climbed to the tree line from where this photo of Lake McKellar was taken. We later ascended to the peak of '1538' named for its height in metres and then descended for a swim in the stream feeding the lake". Taken by Stewart Mann

Akvavit Racing

"Grangärde, Bysjön: On Christmas day my friend and I went for a walk on the lake not far from our homes in the Central part of Sweden. The day was silent and a low cloud hung over the centre of the lake. Already the track has been prepared for the Lake Race which will take place in the first days of February. The track is marked out by planting branches in the ice as it freezes. Hundreds of us will race on skis around the ten kilometre track. There will be a lot of akvavit drinking too to keep us going".
